We are an inclusive dance company located on unceded Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), Səl̓ílwətaɬ (Tsleil- Waututh), and xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam) territories (Vancouver, BC, Canada).
Our work brings together artists with and without disabilities to explore the endless creative possibilities in difference.
We offer accessible and inclusive dance classes for people of all abilities, genders and backgrounds In our mixed-ability dance practice, differences are regarded as creative strengths. We explore the choreographic possibilities of wheelchairs, crutches, canes and celebrate different ways of moving and perceiving.
We seek to make opportunities for every body to discover dance and for artists with disabilities (and without) to access dance training. We want to widen the spectrum of who dances and what dance can be.
All Bodies Dance Project was founded in 2014 by Sarah Lapp, Mirae Rosner and Naomi Brand in order to create an open and inclusive space for persons with and without disabilities to explore the artistic potential of difference.
Since then, we have welcomed hundreds of participants into our free, weekly dance classes hosted through the Vancouver Park Board, Trout Lake Community Centre, the Roundhouse and Sunset Community Centre and offered workshop opportunities across the Lower Mainland.
The company creates new, innovative works of contemporary dance that have been featured widely in community events and festivals such as Dancing on the Edge, Vines Art Festival, SKAMpede (Victoria), Pop Up Dances, Dance in Vancouver, 12 Minutes Max and Fluid Festival (Calgary). To date the company has self-produced four full-evening productions at the Roundhouse Performance Centre in Vancouver to sold out audiences: See & Be Seen (2015), TRACE (2016), DO MAKE SHOW (2017) and Translations (2018).
