A large group of dancers dressed in blue and black on stage under theatrical lighting.

Photo credit: Chris Randle A photo of eleven dancers on a black box theatre stage under dramatic lighting casting interesting shadows on each other as they move around the stage. There are three manual wheelchair dancers, one motorised wheelchair dancer, and seven standing dancers, each wearing shades of black, grey and teal. The dancers are arranged in singles, duos and trios. There’s a real sense of dynamic movement.

“All Bodies Dance Project presents” A dozen or so dancers on a black box theatre stage under dramatic lighting casting interesting shadows on each other as they move around the stage. There are three manual wheelchair dancers, one motorised wheelchair dancer, and five standing dancers, each wearing shades of black, grey and teal. The dancers are loosely arranged in singles, duos and trios. There’s a palpable sense of dynamic movement between. “TRACE”  Vignettes in greyscale: A dance studio, a manual wheelchair user and a scooter dancer face each other while two standing dancers stand closeby; a scooter dancer swirls around a standing dancer; a manual wheelchair user watches from a distance as three dancers circle one another; a standing dancer sits smiling on the floor. Black screen with text: “An evening of mixed ability dance”. A dance studio in colour, a park in the background. A variety of dancers move slowly in the space. “Featuring Choreography By: Adam Grant Warren Diana McKenzie Sarah Lapp & Harmanie Taylor Cherylann Buckman” Dancers linking hands, arms stretched out across the distance. “Directed by: Naomi Brand” Vignettes of dancers stretching their arms upwards, one dancer flinging themself tumbling across the floor, groups of dancers connecting to one another with arms, or mirroring one another’s movements. A manual wheelchair dancer and a standing dancer who is laying on their back on a small wheeled platform coordinate their movements and use the chair and platform in unexpected ways.  A sunny community centre dance studio. 16 or so dancers sit in a circle. Scenes of dancers in various configurations, slashing through the air, combining 2, 3, 4 dancers in interesting shapes. Then the dancers are moving around the stage of a black box theatre. The lighting is creating exciting shadows, sometimes in tandem, other times scattered, but all seem to be part of the same organism. “May 18-19, 2016 Roundhouse Performance Centre” Two groups of dancers huddle separately on the stage in bluish light. “Tickets Available At: allbodiesdance.ca “Project Funders and Partners: Trout Lake Community Centre Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation Roundhouse Community Centre Canada Council for the Arts Wheelin’ mobility Radical Access Mapping Project Made in BC: dance on tour Music: Clara Shandler www.sidewalkcellist.com Film by: Martin Borden All Bodies Dance Produced by All Bodies Dance www.allbodiesdance.ca
